£100m Liverpool Shopping Park starts to emerge from the ground

Steel structures at the Edge Lane scheme are now visible and phase one will include 17 retail units arranged in a distinct horseshoe shape. Tony McDonough reports.

The £100m Liverpool Shopping Park is scheduled for completion at the end of 2017

Developer Derwent Group has released images showing progress on the £100m Liverpool Shopping Park which is due to open at the end of this year.

Steel structures for phase one of the scheme, which will transform Edge Lane Retail Park, are now visible.

Phase one, also known as the Western Quarter, includes 17 retail units arranged in a distinct horseshoe shape which front on to Edge Lane.

The main contractor, Caddick Construction, has erected more than 300 tonnes of steel on site so far with a further 300 tonnes expected as work continues.

The total project will comprise 41 retail units, a significant leisure offer and parking for more than 1,500 cars.

Expected to create in excess of 3,000 new jobs, Liverpool Shopping Park has been described as the “final piece in Liverpool’s retail puzzle”.
