Albert’s Schloss will open in Liverpool in November

A former gas showroom in Bold Street in Liverpool will open as a £3m bar and restaurant in November, creating 200 jobs.

Albert’s Schloss Liverpool is described as a “Bavarian palace inspired by the bohemian spirit”. It will follow the success of the brand’s other venues in Manchester and Birmingham. As well as food and drink it will also offer live entertainment.

Based at the art deco Radiant House, close to the bottom of Bold Street, the outlet will feature a Bier Palace, Cook Haus, Bier Garten and stage area. The building formerly housed the Liverpool Gas Company and more recently an organic food market. It has been empty since 2019.

Named in honour of Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, Albert’s Schloss is being opened by hospitality group Mission Mars. The company already operates Albert’s Schenke in Hanover Street. Spread across two floors it is scheduled to open in November.

It is now seeking managers, chefs, bartenders, servers and hosts. Recruitment events will take place throughout September and October. Click here to apply.

On the ground floor there will be a stage for live performances. There will also be two bars, a fresh tank bier system and a Cook Haus dining area. The first floor will be home to Ludwig’s Tavern, offering artisan Schnapps, a vermouth bar, shuffleboard and other tavern games.

By night, Albert’s Schloss will present seven days of fantastisch showtime, including cabaret performances and live music. The entertainment venue will also be a new home to more than 100 freelance artists. The programming includes Kunst Kabaret, Baby Grand Slam, Friday Frolich, Sunday Service and everything in between.

Roy Ellis, chief executive of Mission Mars, said: “The city has been a wonderful home to Albert’s Schenke, and we cannot wait to have Albert’s Schloss join the party.

“We’ve designed a beautiful space, restoring a 1,000-square-foot glazed atrium while installing a large stage, green room, two large bars, an artisan bakery, a fresh tank beer system and restaurant dining across the two floors. We also have plans for a rooftop terrace and large open-air beer garden around the back.”
