Up to 480 jobs in the pipeline for Knowsley as new Aldi gets the go-ahead

A new 19,000 sq ft Aldi store will be built at Beacon 62 in Huyton

 

Up to 480 jobs could be created in a new development in Knowsley that will include a 19,000 sq ft Aldi supermarket and 12,000 sq ft of space for small firms with a value of more than £10m.

wHenry Boot Barnfield, a joint venture between Henry Boot Developments (HBD) and Barnfield Construction, has secured detailed planning approval at Beacon 62, its 11.5-acre strategic gateway site in Huyton.

HBD is part of the 130-year old Henry Boot PLC and Barnfield Construction, part of the Barnfield Group, is based in Lancashire and has been established for more than 40 years.

The JV has secured planning approval for Beacon 62 located at the Tarbock roundabout at the junction of the M62 and M57.

Dean Thompson, regional manager at HBD, said: “Beacon 62 is an important gateway site with the potential to create a notable number of new jobs and bring significant investment into the area.

“Our aim is to create a successful, vibrant mixed-use scheme comprising retail, leisure and business use and which creates a new focal point for the area. We have eight acres now remaining and discussions with potential occupiers have been positive, so we expect to be able to make further announcements in the near future.”

Tracy Clavell-Bate head of development at Barnfield Construction, added: “We have had a lot of support from the local community and look forward to getting started on site to create a scheme that is a real asset for the area.

“It’s incredibly well-located and we’ve no doubt that Beacon 62 will prove a successful destination for businesses and retailer and leisure operators alike.”
