Office managing partner Jenn Hazlehurst has already raised the number by 20% to beyond 40 and has already doubled the graduate and school-leaver intake. Tony McDonough reports
Accountancy firm EY has grown headcount at its Liverpool office by 20% since local managing partner Jenn Hazlehurst took over two years ago – with plans to double staff numbers by 2020.
There are now more than 40 people at the base at 20 Chapel Street with Ms Hazlehurst also doubling the graduate and school-leaver intake. The firm has also now become a member of Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
She had been a member of the LEP’s advisory board for a number of years before EY joined and has worked with some of the North West’s largest plcs and public interest entities, particularly across the energy and utility sectors.
In September the office hosted a high-profile round table event to discuss the impact of digital technology on businesses in the Liverpool city region. It held similar events on the same day in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle.
Ms Hazlehurst said she sees huge opportunities for businesses across a range of sectors to grow in Liverpool and wants to ensure that EY continues to grow in the city. She’s targeting further growth and plans to double staff numbers by 2020.
“We already have a strong footprint in this city and I am committed to further growing our presence here,” she said. “When I took over as office managing partner two years ago I made the decision to double the size of the EY Liverpool office and we are on track with 20% growth in our first year and more to come.”
EY has a team of more than 600 professionals working across the North West and its offices on Chapel Street service a wide range of businesses from fast-growing entrepreneurial start-ups through to large privately-owned businesses, FTSE 350 companies, and multi-national organisations.
In August EY acquired Wirral-based Riverview Law, a market leader in the utilisation of digital technology which also has offices in Manchester, London and New Jersey in the US.
