Developer and construction firm Anwyl Partnerships has acquired a three-acre site in St Helen where it plans to build up to 80 new homes.

Wales-based Anwyl, has drawn up draft proposals for the new homes on the site off Cowley Hill Lane in the town. It formerly housed buildings owned by the NHS and site enabling works started in 2018 ahead of residential development.

However, the original scheme was deemed to be “unviable” and the site has remained vacant ever since. Now Anwyl, which has delivered a number of projects across Liverpool city region, once to build a variety of new homes at the location.

Sam Oliver, senior land manager at Anwyl Partnerships, said: “This site is a great acquisition and forms part of the continued expansion of the partnership divisions’ activities across the North West.

“We have worked incredibly hard with the existing owners and planning officers to progress a sensitive design that seeks to maximise the site’s opportunities while regenerating a difficult brownfield site.

“In the coming weeks, we look forward to holding a public consultation and welcoming local residents to comment on our drafts proposals before the eventual planning application is submitted.”
