Care Home developer Gladman has awarded a £7.5m contract to Bardsley Construction to build a new facility in Southport.

The care home, to be located in Alexandra Road, will comprise 55 apartments with care and communal facilities. The 6,225 sq metre development consists of a four-storey brick building with timber roof, residents’ lounges and dining facilities, landscaping and car parking.

Working alongside Bardsley are John McCall Architects, structural and civil engineers Opus International and quantity surveyors and employer’s agent, Stringer & Pickford.

Construction of the scheme is due to start in December with completion planned for March 2019.

Ged Rooney, procurement director of Manchester-based Bardsley, said: “The award of this valued contract by Gladman Care Homes is further evidence of Bardsley reaping the rewards of its hard-earned reputation for the successful delivery of specialist care facilities in the North West and Yorkshire.”

Bardsley has established a successful track record in building care homes across the North in locations including Rochdale and Bradford.
