Following the launch of a leadership development programme at the Port of Liverpool building, the City of Liverpool College will now offer the Chartered Institute and Transport (CILT) Level 3 in Port Operations to Peel Ports’ engineering teams.
Students can benefit from the experience of the group’s engineering team to enhance their understanding of their role as part of a wider team, their workplace, and the overall business.
The CILT Level 3 Leadership and Management Programme will focus on the following skills:
- Communication
Coaching and Mentoring
Leading a team
Managing performance
Managing conflict
This course will be linked with further management qualifications and training, as Peel Ports looks to develop a robust supporting framework for a larger curriculum of related programmes.
Brad Crumbleholme, head of engineering at Peel Ports, said:
“The development of this programme has undoubtedly further increased our engineering function’s capability to deliver to our business.
“This is an entirely relevant course for our business especially given the significant growth within Peel Ports including the Liverpool2 deep water container terminal which is scheduled to open in 2015.”
Della Thomas, head of client acquisition and innovation at the City of Liverpool College Group, added:
“The launch of the course, and the way the two partners are working together to deliver it, is a first for Peel Ports, and a first for us – we are delighted to be able to support the development of this transformational sector, which is of vital importance in Merseyside and nationally.”
