Work has started on site at Marine Point in New Brighton to extend and alter an existing empty unit.
Marine Point, the £60m regeneration project by Promenade Estates is a thriving shopping and leisure complex in New Brighton with food and drink tenants including Pizza Express, La Tasca, Starbucks, Prezzo and leisure facilities such as The Light cinema and Bubbles’ World of Play.
Planning permission submitted and approved earlier this year will see a front extension and the creation of a rooftop terrace added to Unit 6.
The work, led by Wirral construction company Trustland, has now begun and is due to be completed by spring 2016.
An additional 99 sqm will be added to the unit through a front extension, as well as 130 sqm rooftop terrace overlooking the Liverpool Bay, which will take advantage of the views towards the Marine Lake and beyond.
A high profile restaurant brand, which will be the first in the North West, is in the final stages of negotiations to occupy the unit, with an announcement to follow shortly.
Daniel Hynd, director of Promenade Estates, says:
“The extension and alterations now making progress at Unit 6 will enhance the vitality and viability of the unit and play a positive role in the continuing regeneration of New Brighton and attracting even more visitors to Marine Point.”
John Carroll, director at Trustland, says:
“As a local company with our roots firmly in the Wirral, we are delighted to be part of such a prominent development. The development to date is superb, and we are sure that the Unit 6 project is going to be just as special.”
