Health club operator David Lloyd has secured planning consent for a new health club at Wirral Waters that will include heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

LBN revealed plans for the centre in April 2025 which is being built in response to the growing number of people living in Peel’s waterfront development. Millers Quay was completed in 2025 comprising 500 apartments and more homes are on the way.

Subject to final preparations, construction on the David Lloyd facility is expected to begin later this year and will create more than 100 jobs. It will be located on the Bidston Dock site off Wallasey Bridge Road and paves the way for further investment into the local area.

It will include a gym, heated indoor and outdoor pools, kids indoor and outdoor pools, swimming and tennis coaching programmes, premium group exercise studios, family facilities including indoor soft play area and DL Kids Club.

There will also be “match quality” tennis, padel, pickleball and badminton courts and a luxury spa retreat with spa garden. And there will be a clubroom offering food.
