CALM aims to cut suicides among young men

Liverpool digital and creative events organiser Creative Kitchen is giving people the chance to win £100 worth of t-shirts from Liverpool-based clothing company Wasted Heroes – and raise money for CALM.

CALM is the Campaign Against Living Miserably and works to help and support young men with mental health issues and at risk of suicide.

After recently holding a Beer Pong awareness tournament to support the charity, the tournament’s sponsors Millfield Estates won the prize of a voucher for £100 worth of Wasted Heroes t-shirts.

The firm kindly donated the prize back to the charity, with the voucher now being raffled off to raise money.

Creative Kitchen is asking people to donate the minimum amount of £5 to CALM, to be entered into a draw to win the Wasted Heroes t-shirt voucher.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, December 1.

All proceeds of the raffle will go to CALM, who dedicate their work to preventing male suicide, the biggest killer of men aged 25-45 in the UK.

It hosts a free, confidential and anonymous helpline as well as its web chat service. These services are open seven nights a week, offering help, advice and information to men who are experiencing depression or crisis.

Although CALM’s service is targeted at young men, it takes calls from anyone who needs support regardless of gender or age.

CALM’s helpline is available 5pm-Midnight every night of the year on 0800 58 58 58. Its web chat service can be accessed by clicking here.
