Fast-growing Liverpool COVID testing firm DAM Health is to partner up with a new global health passport app for travellers. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool COVID-19 testing firm DAM Health has been chosen as the only company in the UK to partner with a new global health passport app.
DAM, founded by leading North West hospital physician, Professor Frank Joseph, has grown quickly over the past 18 months amid global demand for COVID-19 testing during the pandemic.
Health Passport Worldwide has now selected the firm as its only British partner. The company will also partner DAM Health exclusively in Spain too. It means travellers will be able to upload their PCR and lateral flow test results onto the health passport app.
From its Liverpool base in The Spine in the city’s Knowledge Quarter, DAM has expanded rapidly to offer COVID testing both in the UK, in mainland Europe and as far afield as Mexico. Earlier this year the Mossley Hill-based business teamed up with technology educators Credersi to open a virtual reality training laboratory.
It is also embarking on a major recruitment drive as it develops plans for expansion in the medical diagnostic sector. It is seeking over 350 new employees to add to a workforce of close to 1,000 people.
DAM Health director of partnerships, Liam Spence, said: “Anyone who books a COVID-19 test with DAM Health will now see their results uploaded directly onto the Health Passport Worldwide app.
“This will make it much easier for people travelling, attending events or even at hospitality venues if required to prove their coronavirus status on a recognised platform – so we’re really proud of the partnership as it’ll benefit everyone using DAM Health services.
“It uses a secure digital technology to provide a mobile health passport system and your vaccination or test result can only be updated by a medical professional upon your consent, giving you direct access to your personal status which you can display or scan whenever appropriate. There’s no tracking involved, nor GPS or bluetooth.”
