Three months after completing his takeover of Everton, billionaire American businessman Dan Friedkin is officially confirmed as a director of the club.

In December it was announced that the US-based The Friedkin Group had acquired a 98.8% stake in Everton from Farhad Moshiri via a London-based vehicle called Roundhouse Capital Holdings. It also converted the club’s debt into equity.

On Monday, a document filed at Companies House confirmed Mr Friedkin was now a director of the club. He joins interim chief executive Colin Chong, along with Katie Charles, Analaura Moreira-Dunkel, Marcus Watts and Eric Williamson on the EFC board.

His appointment came a day after Everton held the second test event at its new £750m stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool Waters. Everton will leave its long-time home in Goodison Park and kick off the 2025/26 season at the new arena.

25,000 fans were allowed into the 52,888-capacity arena to watch the club’s under-21s play Bolton. The event itself was declared a success but many fans still complained about public transport and traffic congestion around the docklands site.

As well as Everton, The Friedkin Group also owns Italian Seria A side, AS Roma, as well as Toyota car dealerships across multiple southern US states. Mr Friedkin himself has an estimated net worth of $7.5bn (£5.8bn).
