Business is looking to create a purpose-built kitchen to train new chefs, as well as providing a new bar area at Delifonseca Dockside in Brunswick Quay, close to the river. Tony McDonough reports
One of Liverpool’s best-known restaurant and deli brands, Delifonseca, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help fund an £500,000 extension to its outlet next to the Mersey.
The business is looking to raise £150,000 to create a purpose-built kitchen to train new chefs, as well as providing a new bar area at Delifonseca Dockside in Brunswick Quay, close to the river.
Delifonseca will be crowdfunding through a Kickstarter campaign, which launched on November 7, offering a range of rewards including gifts, dining packages, events and experiences.
They include branded aprons and dinner for two to a personal visit from Delifonseca’s very own Tom Ford and Martin Cooper for an at-home dinner party, the campaign will be one to watch. There is even an exclusive trip to Bollinger up for grabs.
Proprietor Candice Fonseca said: “We are incredibly excited to be getting things off the ground with our latest project, especially because this has been something that I have wanted to do for quite some time now.
“Since Delifonseca was established, we have become a prominent part of Liverpool’s community and our customers have become more like family to us which is why we want them to continue to be a part of our journey and help propel us to the next level.
“It’s no secret that we are in a time of economic uncertainty and this has had a bearing on the hospitality, restaurant and bar sector but we are determined to remain at the forefront of the food and drink scene – our extension plans will afford us to do just that.
“This expansion will be able to ensure the future of Delifonseca. It gives us a lovely larger restaurant but, just as importantly, it gives us a great ‘back of house’ and kitchen where we can train and nurture the future talents of the Liverpool food scene.”
