Liverpool-based advertising and design studio Black&Ginger has launched a dedicated design service for the food and drink industry – The Foodio.
Billed as a one-stop-shop for design work for the sector, The Foodio will offer a range of design services, doing everything from developing brand identities to interior design. Typical services will include branding, web design, packaging design, interior design and even the creation of TV advertisements.
Black&Ginger, which is based in the Baltic Triangle and has recently launched an office in London’s Soho, has extensive experience in the food and drink sector, having worked with clients such as kitchen brand Kilner, luxury confectionary business Truffleers and meat brand Maddock’s. Locally, it has also carried out design work for the restaurants District House, Rookwood and Pushka and the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.
Discussing the launch, CEO and founder of Black&Ginger, Alex Frech, said:
“Food and drink is quite a particular specialism. You need to develop imagery that stands out from the crowd in a very competitive marketplace and find a way of bringing brands to life and – quite literally – whetting the appetite of potential customers. It’s a big ask, but it’s something we’ve become adept at.
“By being able to offer pretty much any design service that clients in the food and drink industry could need, we cut out all that duplication of effort and can offer a more holistic approach that will help businesses really fine-tune their brand and ensure that everything is consistent, from the website to the menus. We’ve already had a great deal of interest in the services we offer and look forward to building this part of the business.”
Mr Frech added that the launch of The Foodio is partially motivated by the exponential growth of the food and drink sector in Liverpool in recent years. He continued:
“The food & drink market in Liverpool has expanded considerably in recent years, whether it’s the success of schemes such as the Independent Liverpool, new local food and drink brands such as Liverpool Gin being stocked by city centre bars or just the proliferation of new and eateries. The expansion in this sector in the city is second only to London and we felt we had something to offer to these growing businesses.”
Black&Ginger, which was founded by Alex Frech in 2004, also works with other large national brands such as Slazenger, Vogue, Kilner and Typhoon. Locally, the business also works with meat manufacturer Maddock’s, ECL and Puschka.
