Work has started on a £20m industrial development in Knowsley that will see the construction of three units totalling 130,000 sq ft.

Developer Prime Property has secured planning permission for the units, that will comprise 1,482 sq ft, 47,453 sq ft and 53,269 sq ft, at Knowsley Industrial Estate, the largest estate if its kind in the city region. Prime is hopeful to let the units prior to completion.

They will be located on Acornfield Road, which is the main spine road that runs through the estate. Work on what will be called Acornfield Industrial Park started on site immediately after the New Year and completion is scheduled for December of this year.

Commercial Director for Prime Property Imran Younus, said: “We are delighted to be building these new warehouses in Knowsley. We know the estate well and there is very little available stock in the area currently. We expect all three units to be let prior to completion.”

CBRE and B8RE have been appointed as joint agents to market the scheme.

In January, agents at B8 Real Estate said they were working with planners at St Helens Council to bring forward a 135,00 sq ft commercial unit at Haydock Green. B8 is acting on behalf of developer Industrial North West.

Located at the junction of the  M6  and the East Lancs Rd , this well connected site is seen as one of the North West’s premier commercial locations. According to B8, it could be vital in helping St Helens attract new blue-chip occupiers.
