A 50-bedroom luxury hotel is being planned for Liverpool One – just yards from the city’s historic Bluecoat Chambers.

Liverpool developer YPG has put forward the proposal for the boutique hotel occupying the basement and first to sixth floors of the Russell Building on the corner of School Lane and Peter’s Lane.

YPG’s plans will create 50 guest bedrooms, a rooftop bar, gym, offices, and a conference room and coffee lounge on the first floor.  The second floor would incorporate the hotel’s reception, a restaurant and bar with open kitchen and an external seating area.

The company is in advance talks with an operator for the hotel.  Subject to consent, work on the would begin this summer, with the first guests being welcomed in spring 2019.

Ming Yeung, founder and managing director of YPG, said: “These are exciting plans that will deliver a high quality hotel, run by a very prestigious operator with a brilliant track record, in one of the most popular cities.

Liverpool One’s reputation for the quality of its offer and the experience it provides for visitors have been our inspiration.  Our plans will create a landmark hotel that will provide something special that complements both Liverpool One and the wider city centre.”

Alison Clegg, Director, asset management at Grosvenor Europe which owns Liverpool One, added: “Liverpool One attracts visitors from across the UK, many of whom use it to enjoy one of the best line-ups of brands in the country and as a base to explore the wider city.

“We have been working closely with YPG on their plans and are confident they will create something exciting for Liverpool ONE and the city alike.”
