A partner from Liverpool and Chester based law firm DTM Legal is among a team taking part in a grueling 300-mile charity fundraiser.
Mother-of-two Kate Roberts, who is from Crosby, is riding from London to Paris in a bid to raise money for Wirral Hospice St John’s.
The epic ride set off on Wednesday from Crystal Palace in London and is due to finish on 24th July in the centre of Paris.
Kate chose to complete the endurance ride with an ambition to match the £2,000 DTM Legal has already raised for the Hospice through a variety of fundraising events last year.
Wirral Hospice St John’s is a hospice for adults that provides free care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses including cancer, heart, liver and kidney disease, respiratory and neurological conditions.
Kate said:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking part in the challenge. Wirral Hospice is an amazing charity which provides essential support to families from across the region. DTM Legal holds close links with the charity, so it’s a proud moment for all of us to have been able to support such a worthy cause.”
Michelle Talgam, Fundraising Development Manager at Wirral Hospice said:
“Kate has been training hard for this particularly tough challenge. We wish her and all the team of hospice riders well as they cycle from London to Paris this week in support of our specialist end of life care. Kate and all at DTM Legal have raised a substantial amount for us and with their commitment, support and generosity, we will be able to continue to make sure our patients have the very best care and comfort which is so very important to them and to their families and loved ones.”
A team of 100 cyclists from across the country are joining Kate on the endurance bike ride which will pass historic landmarks and famous battlefields from World War One on the challenging journey.
Kate continued:
“On the first day we cycle 95 miles from Crystal Palace to Calais which will probably be the most challenging part of the journey as we are on a very strict schedule. The remaining 200 miles of the journey will take place in rural France. It will be a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to cycle through the amazing scenery, although I can imagine the temperatures may prove a bit of a challenge. “
Kate and the team will only stop off three times on their route, once in Calais, once in Abbeville and finally in Beauvais. Her fundraising total for Wirral Hospice currently stands at £1,672.97 and it is continuing to attract more support.
Richard Thomas, Partner at DTM Legal said:
“We are so proud of Kate for continuing the firm’s on-going fundraising efforts to support Wirral Hospice and the amazing work the charity does. Cycling from London to Paris is an incredible challenge and her commitment is truly inspirational.”
