Construction is underway on a new VIP bar at Echo Arena Liverpool.
The entertainment venue is set to add another upscale area for guests, constructing a mezzanine level and bar area inside the arena concourse which will offer spectacular views across the waterfront.
Up to 150 visitors will be able to enjoy a range of drinks before, during and after shows, as well as a selection of food offers, with hosted table service available.
The interior of the luxury bar, which has yet to be named, has been designed by 442 Design, the same company that designed the VIP members’ areas at the SSE Hydro as well as the retail and cafe areas at West Ham United’s new London stadium. Interior designer Michael Cousins, from Litherland, is leading the project. Engie is managing the construction of the facility, which will open its doors in 2017.
Bob Prattey, chief executive of The ACC Liverpool Group, home to BT Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool as well as Echo Arena, said:
“We know how much our visitors like to make a special night of it when they come to watch a concert, comedy or sporting event at Echo Arena Liverpool.
“The addition of a new indoor high-end bar will enable our guests to treat themselves and enjoy drinks and dining on event nights in luxury surroundings with magnificent views of the river. While we will still provide refreshments as usual on our arena concourse, the new VIP bar will offer an exclusive range and will complement our existing premium offer Arena Club Class.
“We are continuously assessing client feedback and enhancing our venues to provide the best possible facilities for visitors. We would like to reassure customers that there will be no disruption to events as the building work will be carried out in phases around our entertainment calendar.”
The initial phase of the building work will see the construction of the steelwork frame within the arena concourse. The next phase, due in the new year, will create the internal bar with fit out forming the final stage. The bar is due to open next summer.
Adam Williams, senior project manager at ENGIE, said:
“For this initial phase of the construction we are installing 27 tonnes of steelwork which will form the mezzanine structure for the 280 sqm bar above.
“ENGIE is pleased to be involved in this prestigious and exciting opportunity at Echo Arena Liverpool.”
Cousins, head of interior design at 442 Design, added:
“We are experienced in designing successful premium areas at other large scale venues and our aim at Echo Arena Liverpool is to create a memorable event for guests. We look forward to working with the arena team to make this the most talked about and must see VIP bar in the city.”
Forthcoming arena highlights include Rod Stewart, Jess Glynne and Disney on Ice.
