Ellesmere Port to host its first pop-up business fair

Budding entrepreneurs are being invited to take part in part in one of Britain’s biggest regeneration challenges to help create a new wave of new businesses in Cheshire.

Ellesmere Port is one of only ten UK towns to take part in the Pop Up in the Port project which is being led by Plus Dane Housing, with support from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Run by the Carnegie Trust’s Test Town Initiative, the aim is to lower unemployment and simultaneously boost local regeneration. The scheme has already helped inject £200,000 into start-ups, supported 150 entrepreneurs and helped get 45 new local businesses off the ground.

Prospective entrepreneurs are being invited to bring their ideas to the Pop Up Business Fair, which takes place at Trinity Church on Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port on Tuesday, October 20 from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

At the fair, participants will be given the fantastic opportunity to test their product or idea on real life customers. There is also mentoring available for those start-ups who would like some additional support before the day.

Peter Shaw, director at Plus Dane Housing said:

“Plus Dane is committed to supporting the regeneration of Ellesmere Port town centre and creating opportunities for residents to explore options for employment. This event is one of a number of exciting initiatives we have planned for the coming weeks to support both our tenants and the wider community of Ellesmere Port and Neston.

“Seventeen aspiring entrepreneurs have received intensive business support and advice through the Pop-up Business School and went onto benefit from mentoring and advice from made-here. The Pop Up Business Fair gives them the chance to bring their ideas to life by trading with the general public. The fair will also showcase the fantastic talent of the town’s bedroom business moguls.”
