Elliot Group acquires former North Point Global Liverpool site

Part-built scheme on Pall Mall is close to Elliot Group’s triple-tower Infinity project and will be demolished in the New Year, says Elliot Group director Elliot Lawless

Developer Elliot Group has acquired a Liverpool city centre site formerly owned by collapsed North Point Global.

The part-built scheme on Pall Mall has become a blight on the immediate area and will be demolished in the New Year, says Elliot Group director Elliot Lawless.

The site is across the road from Elliot Group’s triple-tower Infinity project and the acquisition will, according to Mr Lawless, allow the firm to “bring a critical mass of quality to the area which will seal its position as the prime zone for the northern expansion of the city centre”.

He added: “It’s been a lengthy process to acquire the site and I’m delighted that we have succeeded. We intend to start afresh with a development that better suits the site and the market and I’ve instructed my architects to get cracking straight away.

“We hope to share our draft vision with stakeholders early in the New Year. The first task, of course, is to make the site safe.”

The original scheme had planning permission for 366 homes and work on its concrete frame was extensive before North Point’s demise. Mr Lawless says that his ambitions to develop a mixed-use scheme with a range of residential and employment uses means that he has no choice but to demolish the framework.

He added: “There was some merit to the scheme as a piece of architecture, but we have in mind something much better and which will create more jobs and infrastructure for the city.

“We need to discuss this with the planners first but hope to be able to submit a planning application in the second quarter of 2019.”
