Peel Waters appoints property firm JLL to begin marketing the first of 500 apartments of a £130m residential scheme at Wirral Waters as the project nears completion. Tony McDonough reports
Property agents are to begin marketing the first 150 homes in a £130m 500-home development close to Wirral waterfront.
Peel Waters says construction work on Miller’s Quay in Wirral Waters is approaching its final stages. The scheme comprises 500 one and two-bedroom apartments, 100 of which will be classed as ‘affordable’.
To be classed as affordable a home has to be offered for rent at no more than 80% of local market rates. Miller’s Quay is a rental-only scheme.
In January 2002 Peel Waters announced that institutional investor Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) was funding the Miller’s Quay scheme. Wirral Council is also a partner on the Build-to-Rent development.
Now Peel Waters has appointed property firm JLL as marketing, lettings and management agent for the scheme which has been built by construction firm GRAHAM. It offered employment for local people and training for Wirral Met College students.
Apartments are expected to be released in two phases, with phase one, the first 150 new homes, due to open in the summer of 2024. Phase two, the final 350 new homes, will be ready in early 2025.
Richard Mawdsley, director of development at Wirral Waters, said: “Our appointment of JLL follows a competitive procurement process where they were found to have the expertise, experience and resources to deliver this critical, large-scale development.
“In addition, JLL’s commitment to sustainability, climate action and shaping healthy and inclusive places for thriving communities are very much aligned with our own values and our ambition for Wirral Waters.”
