Fleet hire firm buys Wirral site for £1.4m

Maritime manufacturer Survitec sells its former Birkenhead factory site to a Wirral fleet hire business in a £1.4m deal. Tony McDonough reports

West Wallasey Fleet Hire Services has bought Survitec’s former Birkenhead home

 

West Wallasey Fleet Hire Services has acquired the former Survitec manufacturing site in a £1.4m deal.

Survitec, a specialist supplier of equipment to the maritime, defence and aerospace sectors, has relocated its operations to Ellesmere Port. It put the 108,145 sq ft of buildings in Beaufort Road, which sits on a four-acre site, up for sale.

Property agents Legat Owen were tasked with finding the buyer. West Wallasey Fleet Hire Services, a market leader in long term flexible van rental, operates a fleet of more than 17,000 vehicles. The business has an annual turnover of £137m.

With roots dating back to 1974, the Company is currently celebrating 50 years in business. It has now acquired the Birkenhead site to expand its operations.

Rupert Chadwick Dunbar of Legat Owen said: “Sites such as this one don’t come along very often, and when they do we make sure our clients get the best possible deal.

“Its prominent location within Liverpool’s freeport area and appealing future prospects made it an attractive site.”

The detached former manufacturing site comprises four units. Situated in the heart of Birkenhead’s industrial area, just a three-minute drive from the M53.

Survitec Group’s legal team were DWF and West Wallasey Fleet Hire Services were advised by Harworth & Gallagher.
