Fonseca’s Stanley Street is set to go back to the old school this September by playing host to a unique Retro Wine Night.
Taking place at the award-winning venue’s ‘Downstairs Bar’, the evening will be hosted by Matt Cox of Rodney Densom Wines, who will showcase a range of specially selected wines with a nostalgic twist.
General manager of Fonseca’s, Danielle Youds said:
“Our wine evenings continue to be a popular event in our ever-expanding calendar, therefore we are certain that the retro evening will provide a light hearted opportunity for people to reminisce and relive their fond wine memories (good and bad).”
The specially crafted wine list, which includes retro favourites such as Lambrusco, Chardonnay and Sherry, will be complemented by a kitch and fun menu, carefully devised by Fonseca’s award winning team. Dishes featured will include Fonseca’s Prawn Cocktail, TV Dinner Style – Chicken Kiev, “better than your nanna’s” Rice Pudding and not forgetting, some treats on a stick.
Danielle added:
“This is a wine night for everyone; a chance to rediscover youth and enjoy wine varieties that in their heyday, were the drink du jour! Matt will lead the exploration of these delicious wines, once so uncool, they’re now almost cool again – and not a Babycham in sight!”
Ahead of the Retro Night, Fonseca’s will host an Italian Wine Evening with a special emphasis on the Ca Rugate Vineyard, where the team have just been fortunate enough to return from. The evening will welcome John Budd from Hallgarten Druitt who will introduce a selection of award winning wine alongside an impressive four course Italian feast.
The Ca Rugate Wine Night will take place on Wednesday, August 19 and the Retro Wine Night on Wednesday, September 30. Both will be held at Fonseca’s ‘Downstairs Bar’ from 7:30pm and priced at £29.95 per person.
