Liverpool-based GoodShip* has been named Tech Start-up of the Year (under 5 employees) at the Prolific North Tech Awards 2026. Jennie Lewis reports
Liverpool digital solutions business, Goodship* has secured the Tech Start-up of the Year award in the Less than 5 Employees category at the Manchester ceremony last Thursday, beating off strong competition from emerging technology businesses from across the North.
Founded in 2024 by Gavin Sherratt, the business develops digital products, AI education, and innovation strategies across Liverpool City Region, working with partners including Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses and charities.
Central to its approach is AI Activator, an experiential program linking students and industry through real business challenges and practical AI development.
The program, also shortlisted for Tech for Good: Skills & Employment, contributed to three nominations, with Gavin Sherratt also named a finalist for Ecosystem Champion.
Accepting the award, Gavin said: “We set out to demonstrate that technology, creativity and commercial success can work hand in hand with purpose and positive impact.
“We’re a small business, but we’ve built something much bigger through an incredible network of collaborators, educators, businesses and community partners who share our values.
“To receive recognition on a Northern stage is an important milestone. It shows that the approach we’re developing here in Liverpool is gaining attention beyond the city region.”
