A senior Government official responsible for the GREAT Britain campaign will be the keynote speaker at this year’s City of Liverpool Business Awards (COLBA).

Working out of the Prime Minister’s office, Conrad Bird oversees the campaign which is a cross-Government initiative designed to deliver trade and tourism benefits to the UK.

It harnesses the best that Britain has to offer under a single brand and promotes our strengths to the world.

GREAT is a significant contributor to the International Festival for Business, which will be hosted for the third time in Liverpool in 2018.

COLBA is organised by business lobby and networking group, Downtown. Chief executive Frank McKenna told YBNews: “I am delighted that Conrad has agreed to join us.

“He is a talented individual, with an important job at the top of Government. He understands business, and I am sure our audience will appreciate his contribution.”

Mr Bird will also lead a discussion with business leaders at a special Downtown lunchtime event prior to the gala awards dinner, which takes place on Thursday, July 13.

Inspired by former chancellor Gordon Brown’s ‘inner city 100’ initiative, COLBA rewards businesses that have done the most to regenerate local communities and drive the Liverpool city region’s competitiveness.

The black-tie event is held at Sefton Park Palm House. With only 260 tickets available, it attracts entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics, and decision makers.

The event is supported by Liverpool’s economic development agency Liverpool Vision and the City of Liverpool mayor’s office.

Nominations for the awards are now open. Visit www.downtowninbusiness.com for further details.
