Light Night Liverpool is an annual one-night arts and culture festival which this year will see more than 100 events taking place across the city centre from 5pm this Friday, May 19. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool’s only remaining 19th century arcade will host a “street party” to mark Friday’s Light Night festival.
The event, organised by dot-art and Bruntwood, will take place in Queen Avenue between Dale Street and Castle Street, between 5pm and 10pm.
Visitors can enjoy Argentinian street food from CAU, live music from Havana Sugar Kings and puddings provided by The Interesting Eating Company.
The party will also feature a glowing art installation by Sarah Nicholson consisting of 450 plastic bottles; one for each year it takes a bottle to degrade.
Immersive trails of sculpture and light suspended from above will bring the avenue to life and there will be hands-on workshops to allow guests to add their own contribution to the recyclable artwork.
