One of Merseyside’s oldest football clubs – Prescot Cables FC – has secured a sponsorship deal with housebuilder Stewart Milne Homes in time for the new season.

With a history dating back to 1884, Prescot Cables FC plays in the Northern Premier League Division One North and is a Community Interest Company that is owned by its supporters.

Stewart Milne has just started work on a new development in the area, Callenders Green, which will comprise 68 new homes. It has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with the club.

Sporting the team’s traditional amber colour, the new kit tops will carry the Stewart Milne Homes logo, as well as the Prescot Cables football badge and other team sponsors.

Wanting to engage with the local community, Stewart Milne approached Prescot Cables FC to spark up a partnership and ready the club for its first home game of the season against Trafford on Saturday, August 18.

Members of the Stewart Milne team from Callenders Green went to the teams Volair Park to watch them play a pre-season friendly against Stalybridge Celtic, wearing the new kit for the first time.

As well as its first team, Prescot Cables also has a reserve team as well as an up and coming youth team which nurtures talented locals aged 16-18 years old. It is run by volunteers.

Director Jamie Weston said: “It is a real coup to have Stewart Milne as the club’s sponsors – to have this deal over two years also ensures a level of stability for the club going forward.”

Lynne Vogel, regional sales manager at Stewart Milne, added: “We are always looking for opportunities to engage with local communities at all our developments.”
