In May Jet2 and Jet2holidays announced flights from Liverpool for the first time from 2024 and now the company is adding a new sunshine route to the list. Tony McDonough reports
Jet2holidays has added another new route to its summer schedule out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2024.
It has now added Formentera in Spain to the list of 20 routes announced earlier this year. In May Jet2 and Jet2holdays said they were making Liverpool their 11th UK airport with 20 new routes. Days later it added another eight destinations for winter.
This investment will see the creation of at least 200 jobs. Its summer schedule will begin on March 28, 2024, just in time for the Easter break. Flights and holidays to Formentera will operate from May 16 through to October 5.
With weekly Friday services available from Liverpool, packages with Jet2holidays include Jet2.com flights to Ibiza airport, 22kg baggage, free child places and transfers for £60 per person booking deposit.
Just 20km south of Ibiza, Formentera is reachable via a short transfer. Once arriving at Ibiza airport, customers will receive ferry tickets from Jet2holidays before taking a coach to Ibiza Town Port.

The ferry operates every 30 minutes and coach transfers are also provided upon arrival in Formentera. The most southerly of the Balearic islands, Formentera is best-known for its untouched beaches and crystal clear waters.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are incredibly excited to be launching packages to Formentera for summer 24 from Liverpool John Lennon airport.
“As well as giving customers the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved summer holiday, the unspoilt island is a peaceful paradise and one of the most idyllic destinations in the Balearics.”
