Marks and Spencer is looking to fill 15 customer service assistant vacancies at its new Liverpool city centre store which will open in June.

First announced a year ago, M&S will leave the Grade II-listed Compton House in Church Street, where it has been since 1930, and move into a 100,000 sq ft space in the former Debenhams store at Liverpool ONE.

Now St Helens Chamber is offering jobseekers the chance to get a guaranteed interview for jobs at the new store through one of its Sector Based Work Academies.

This programme combines short training courses that will equip attendees with the exact skills the employer is looking for.

Candidates develop relevant skills to the roles on offer, alongside gaining nationally recognised qualifications and having access to expert CV and interview advice.

The customer assistant roles are permanent and have varied day to day duties. M&S is offering what it describes as a “competitive rate of pay” with further development opportunities within the business.

Mike Unsworth, career development manager at St Helens Chamber, said: “We’ve seen great success with these programmes previously, and are looking forward to working with Marks and Spencer on finding great candidates for their new premises.

“Sector Based Work Academies make sure candidates have the skills and qualifications that the employer is looking for, giving them the best possible chances of success at the interview stage.”

An open day offering more information on the Sector Based Work Academy will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at MYA at 65-67 Hanover Street in Liverpool city centre.

All training will be delivered at MYA between June 12 and 19. This will be followed by a taster day at Marks and Spencer’s Church Street store on June 20. Candidates will be able to put their skills into practice.

Mike added: “The open day at MYA on Hanover Street, will give candidates a chance to come along and chat to our team of careers advisers to see whether the course and roles are the right fit for them.
