Facilities management firm Kimpton has secured a new contract at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) laboratory at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Wirral-based Kimpton will provide management and maintenance of its heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems at the STFC Daresbury Laboratory located on the science and innovation campus.

Since its inception in 1962, Daresbury Laboratory has pushed the boundaries of modern science. It is internationally recognised for world-leading scientific excellence in a diverse variety of fields ranging from nuclear physics to supercomputing.

It employs more than 650 people and scientists and engineers from both the university research community and industrial research base use its facilities.

Kimpton will operate its planned preventative maintenance which involves ongoing responsibility for management of a large and varied HVAC asset base of more than 450 pieces of plant. The contract was awarded following a competitive tender process.

Kimpton, which is headquartered in Bromborough, already has its turnkey team permanently based on site at the Cheshire facility delivering a range of construction and fit out projects. This is the second consecutive time it has been awarded the contract.
