Headed by one of Liverpool’s best-known corporate lawyers, Gareth McIntegart, Napthens is seeking new staff and larger premises. Tony McDonough reports
Law firm Napthens is looking to move to larger premises in Liverpool as it reveals plans to expand.
The firm’s Liverpool office, headed by one of Liverpool’s best-known corporate lawyers, Gareth McIntegart, was established at the Plaza in St Paul’s Square in 2018 and acts for clients including Abbey Logistics Group, Joloda International and Heritage Great Britain.
Mr McIntegart, who has previously worked at DWF and DLP Piper in Liverpool, said the firm intended to recruit at least six new staff members over the coming months, including specialists in corporate, litigation and real estate, along with support staff.
It also intends to look for a new office. He said: “Liverpool is key to Napthens’ future growth plans in the region. As our client base has expanded, we’ve naturally needed to recruit staff and this year we are planning further investment into the city with a review of our current premises with the aim of moving to larger offices to gear up for the growth that we are seeing.”
Also as part of the firm’s growth in Liverpool, David Carr is joining the Liverpool office. Mr Carr, a senior associate solicitor, is moving from the firm’s East Lancashire office to the city where he will work closely alongside Mr McIntegart.
A former Liverpool-based lawyer, who trained at Halliwells before spending time working in London, the Channel Islands and in Manchester with Brabners, Mr Carr will advise clients across the whole range of corporate finance transactional work, including M&A and private equity.
Napthens’ Corporate team was recognised when the firm won the Mid-size Law Firm of the Year category at the 2019 North West Insider Dealmakers Awards. It also scooped the Sub-£10m Deal of the Year at the same event for its role in advising Liverpool-based manufacturer Joloda International in relation to the £7.5m investment by BGF.
Its operates from offices in Southport, Lancashire and Cumbria offering a range of services for both business and individuals. Mr McIntegart added: “We are keen to demonstrate our commitment to both the business and professional services community and our clients that we are very much here to stay – we’ve made significant strides over the last two years and intend to build on this growth and our successes so far.”
