LBN founder to take part in Meet the Media event

Organised by Professional Liverpool, the free online Meet the Media event will tackle topics such as reporting on the pandemic and how it has impacted on the Liverpool city region

Jennie Lewis, founder of Liverpool Business News

Liverpool Business News founder Jennie Lewis will be one of a three-strong panel of media experts at an free online event organised by Professional Liverpool.

It’s Meet the Media event will take place on Friday, November 20, between 12 noon and 1pm. The panel will tackle topics such as reporting on the pandemic and how it has impacted on the Liverpool city region.

Liverpool has been at the epicentre of the pandemic in the UK, the first city to face Tier 3 restrictions. How has the pandemic affected the Liverpool brand and its reputation as a place to invest and do business?

What messages does the city region need to press home with Government, Whitehall and the wider UK business community to support recovery?

Is there a danger – as recently suggested by the Bank of England’s chief economist Andy Haldane – that good news on the economy is being crowded-out by fears about the future and that we, as a society, must be wary of “catastrophising”.

The event will be chaired by Chris Hulme, director of Influential and, as well as Jennie, the panel will also include Andy Bounds, northern editor of The FT and Alex Turner managing editor of Business Desk.

Jennie is the founding director of LBN, an independent business news site, and owner director at YBpr. She is one of Liverpool’s most experienced and best-known PR professionals.

Andy Bounds is the North of England correspondent and enterprise editor at the Financial Times. He has spent more 22 years at the FT in London, Latin America, Brussels and now covers the North of England.

A former Liverpool Daily Post and Echo Journalist, Alex Turner oversees all over the coverage for Desk in the North West, Yorkshire and Midlands. He started his career running the media department of St Helens Rugby League Club.
