Pub operator Greene King has signed up to take a unit at the Lime Street development in Liverpool city centre.

Developer Ion has secured the letting with the company which joins hotel operator Premier Inn, student accommodation provider The Lantern and value retailer Lidl at the following its redevelopment of the site.

Steve Parry, managing director of Ion, said: ‘It has always been important to us to reflect the roots of Lime Street through this development. Lime Street was traditionally a street where entertainment married harmoniously with food, drink and retail.

“The panelled façade tells the story of the history of the street – from the penny bazaar to the cinemas and the milk bars. We hoped to mirror that offering when allocating the street level units.”

A spokesperson for Greene King added: ‘Greene King Local Pubs are all individually designed, to reflect the community they sit within and offer a local experience. Lime Street is an inimitable street, that welcomes visitors to the city and we are delighted that Greene King will reflect this uniqueness.

“Greene King will provide another location for people to enjoy food and drink in this part of town, alongside The Crown and The Northwestern, and further instil a sense of local community in this part of the city.”
