Legacie Developments is planning to build 500 apartments in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle

Developer Legacie has secured planning consent for its £80m mixed-use development in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle district.

And the the go-head for the plan, which will include 500 new apartments and 12 commercial units, means 150 full-time jobs will be created during construction, with up to 100 possible permanent jobs thereafter.

The city council had deferred a decision on the scheme two weeks ago following local objections to the plan. But last week Baltic Triangle Area CIC dropped its objections and pledged to work with the developer to help create a scheme that will enhance the Baltic district.

The scheme was designed on behalf of Legacie Developments by Falconer Chester Hall architects and will involve the construction of four blocks of accommodation of between eight and 18 storeys linked by a communal courtyard and public realm on Parliament Street and Greenland Street.

Residential access will be via the courtyard and residents will also share a communal roof terrace. The accommodation will include a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

The site is in two parts with one occupied by a warehouse and an enclosed yard, while the second is vacant. Both are considered brownfield having been previously developed.

“The proposed development reflects the surrounding context of materials within the Baltic Triangle whilst also providing an exciting opportunity to continue the regeneration of the area,” said Falconer Chester Hall managing director Adam Hall.

Legacie Developments’ other schemes in Liverpool city centre include Reliance House on Water Street and Ropemaker Place on Renshaw Street. They have also carried out a restoration of shops on Dale Street opposite the former Municipal Buildings.
