Liverpool John Lennon Airport “the very best airport in the North West” according to a new national survey. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has been ranked among the UK’s leading airports in the annual Which? airport survey.
The airport was named a Which? Recommended Provider for the fifth consecutive year and placed second overall, just behind Exeter Airport. It is one of only two northern airports to feature in the top ten, alongside Newcastle.
It outperformed every other large UK airport included in the survey, which assessed passenger experiences at 27 airports and terminals across the country.
Earlier this year, Which? surveyed almost 6,000 passengers about journeys made during the previous 12 months. Respondents rated airports across eight categories, including customer service, check-in and security queues, cleanliness, baggage reclaim, seating availability, and food and drink.
Liverpool achieved the survey’s second-highest customer score, receiving 78%. Passengers awarded the airport five stars for check-in and security queues, as well as cleanliness. Which? described it as “the very best airport in the North West.”
The recognition comes as Liverpool continues to welcome growing numbers of passengers, with more travellers from across the North West and North Wales choosing to fly from the airport.
Earlier this month, the airport announced its busiest ever summer with a rolling annual passenger numbers total of 5.73m.
And in August LJLA was named one of the most accessible airports in the UK by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the same week it welcomed a ninth EasyJet aircraft serving new routes to Seville and Naples.
