Unit Chambers in Liverpool is to strengthen its back office functions in a new agreement with back office support specialist Complete Counsel.

Specialising in family law, Unit Chambers is based in Exchange Station in Tithebarn Street. Now head of chambers Lisa Edmunds has struck a deal with Claire Labio, founder at Complete Counsel, that will see two experienced people supporting Unit’s work.

As part of the collaboration Complete Counsel, which is also based in Liverpool, will provide Unit with a new fees manager, Helen Southworth, and a clerk/diary manager, Emma Wall. They offer a combined 50 years of experience in the legal sector.

Lisa Edmunds said: “Our collaboration with Complete Counsel marks an exciting milestone in our commitment to delivering exceptional service and support to our clients.

“By joining forces, we aim to set new standards of excellence in the legal profession, particularly within family law, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible representation and care.”

Based at The Plaza in St Paul’s Square, Complete Counsel was launched in early 2015 and provides services to barristers on a contractual basis.

Claire Labio added that she founded the venture with a desire to “disrupt the Bar and challenge the traditional way of working”.

In Liverpool there have been the same five or six sets of chambers for a number of years. This is starting to change both regionally and nationally with “breakaway” sets and more flexible models being developed.

“The fact that we can now assist other sets with their clerking shows how flexible the model truly is,” Claire explained.

“Unit Chambers will benefit from our comprehensive back-office support and the expertise of our clerks, as our current set of barristers continue to enjoy.

“I believe our combined efforts will drive further growth and deliver stronger client and sector offerings for both firms.”
