A marketing consultancy that specialises in the construction industry has grown its client base by 38% and taken on three new staff during lockdown.

Despite the construction industry taking a significant hit from the coronavirus crisis, Liverpool-based Construction Marketing Experts (CME) has seen a surge in new business.

Formed in 2011 by managing director Sarah Reay, the firms works with main contractors, subcontractor specialists, architects, consultants, civils and groundworks companies, and building products suppliers, on their marketing campaigns.

Ms Reay is backing Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson’s push for £200m from the Government to support his £1.4bn recovery plan which centres around major construction projects such as the £2bn knowledge quarter.

“From the get go, I’ve always employed locally as I believe in supporting the local economy,” she said. “The excellent work my team have produced have led to a buzz around CME that has in turn increased demand across the construction sector for outsourced marketing support.

“We are a small business with big ambitions, I am so proud of our local roots and despite now working for clients on a national scale, it’s local construction related companies that continue to benefit from our support.

“I sincerely hope the Government reflects the importance of construction in their budget planning, and continue to invest in the industry CME supports. In these uncertain times, one thing is for sure, there are still opportunities to grow.”
