Liverpool digital agency Studio Mashbo nominated for two awards in 2016 Digital Leaders 100

Liverpool-based business Studio Mashbo is celebrating after it made this year’s prestigious Digital Leaders DL100 list.

The leading digital agency has been listed as one of ten SME Digital Leaders of the Year.

Studio Mashbo has made the list based on the views of ten independent judges, who have chosen the most exciting and innovative projects and organisations to join the DL100 2016 list. Over 500 projects, initiatives, organisations and individuals had been nominated, and the judges had a tough job whittling this list down to this year’s DL100 cohort.

A public vote will now help to put the DL100 list into order by category, with all members ranked from 1 – 100. The organisations and projects that top the category lists will receive a DL100 Award in June.

Past winners include Baroness Martha Lane Fox, board member of Channel 4 and Marks & Spencer, and co-founder of Europe’s largest travel and leisure website lastminute.com.

The announcement follows an incredible year for Studio Mashbo, which has seen a 58% increase in turnover, award wins, 26 new clients and the creation of five new jobs with the doubling of its team.

And the ten-strong Studio Mashbo team has even more reasons to celebrate. Their Fresh CAMHS collaboration has also made the DL100 list as one of ten Digital Public Service Innovations of the Year.

Led by young people, Fresh CAMHS is on a mission to increase understanding and tackle stigma around mental health. The campaign has been developed in partnership by Studio Mashbo, Kaleidoscope, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and The Fresh Group – young people who use the hospital’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

Studio Mashbo worked with young people who are meeting mental health challenges to develop an interactive website that helps young people reach valuable mental health and wellbeing resources.

Since its launch, the website has been accessed over 40 times a day and the Fresh CAMHS crew – and their froggy mascot Phileas has built a big Twitter following.

The project has seen support from the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Everton and Liverpool FC, and a host of other celebrities.

Steve Todd, Co-Founder and Technical Director at Mashbo, said:

“Making the DL100 list is the cherry on the cake for us. We’ve had an amazing year – and to be recognised as a digital leader in this way is fantastic. I’m proud of our team – this recognition is for them. One of our big aims is to put Liverpool on the map for its amazing creative digital talent – we hope that people will help us do this by voting for us. At Mashbo we are aware of the human side of digital, and mental health is something we are passionate about. We are very proud of the fact that the Fresh project continues to receive awareness and support for the work that the Fresh team and Dr Simon Lewis are doing in order to break down the stigma of mental health with young people.”

His thoughts were echoed by Dr Simon Lewis, who said:

“This joint venture, and Mashbo’s ongoing relationship with us, has changed the way Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust views service user participation as well as having contributed to helping young minds find a better place! For me personally, it has opened a world of opportunity and creative thinking about how mental health services can venture into the digital world.”

Public voting for the DL100 Awards is open until Friday, 27th May, and can be accessed through http://www.digileaders100.com/vote/
