Liverpool-based housebuilder Hassett Homes has unveiled plans for a £7.3m new homes scheme on a site in Cheshire.

Hassett Homes, founded by Jamie Blennerhassett, has acquired a 1.73-acre site in Northwich for an undisclosed sum. The site, in Winnington Avenue, secured outline consent for 33 homes in December 2019.

But Mr Blennerhassett, who earlier this month revealed plans for the conversion of a Victorian mansion in Liverpool, says he will bring forward a revised project that will see 23 homes built.

“Our customers prefer larger, airy homes on slightly bigger plots and we’ll reflect this in our design strategy for the site,” he explained. “We’re aiming to submit a revised application for 23 homes later this autumn.”

He confirmed that if consent is granted by Cheshire West and Chester Council site clearance works would start in the spring. Mr Blennerhassett added: “The site contains a number of disused joinery workshops and so there’s a need to remove these carefully and thoughtfully.

“We will liaise with local people and their representatives in the proper manner, of course.”

Hassett Homes has retained Jonathan Storey from the Liverpool office of Pegasus to advise on planning. Drome Architects is designing the development, with Elluc the retained engineers.

Savills acted as sales agent for the vendor, a private individual.  Acquisition funds were provided by Tower Grange Finance.

In June Blennerhassett Hasset Homes is a “disruptor and an innovator” and he outlined his three-phase plan to create a truly sustainable housing building model that would generate a fraction the carbon emissions normally associated with housebuilding.

On the latest scheme he added: “The economy has emerged strongly from the pandemic and demand for housing is firm. This latest acquisition allows us to meet local needs and introduce our popular houses to the Northwich market for the first time.”
