Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust’s Public Health Team are encouraging people across the city to take part in the Stoptober challenge during the 28 days of October.
Research shows that people who manage to stop smoking for 28 days are five times more likely to stop for good, and at the end of September the Trust will be launching a series of road-shows offering free, professional support and advice on the best ways to stop smoking for anyone considering taking part.
The road-shows will take place at each of the following times and locations across the city:
Tuesday 16th September – Everton Neighbourhood Health Centre Wednesday 17th September – Kensington Neighbourhood Health Centre Thursday 18th September – Mere Lane Health Centre Tuesday 23rd September – South Liverpool Treatment Centre Thursday 25th September – Townsend Neighbourhood Health Centre
All of the road-shows will take place between 9am – 11.30am.
Paula Murphy, from the Trust’s Health Promotion Team explains,
“This October we’re encouraging as many people as possible across Liverpool to take up the Stoptober challenge and to successfully stop smoking with support from our team.”
“We know that stopping smoking is one of the single most important things you can do to improve your health, but it can be very hard to do without the right help and advice.”
“The good news is that it’s much easier when you do it with support from health professionals, so why not join us at one of our road-shows for further advice or information on the best way of stopping for you?”
If you’ re not able to attend a road-show event, you can also drop into the NHS Health Information Centre on Hanover Street where you can speak to a health adviser between 10am – 4pm any week day (and some weekends).
