Liverpool’s Psych Fest, held in September, has been recognised by NME as “Small festival of the year”, cementing it not just as an important part of a thriving local music scene but a national one as well.
On being nominated for the award, Liverpool Psych Fest’s website announced:
“Thanks NME, we’re made up to be nominated, especially when you look at the illustrious company we’re keeping on the shortlist – End Of The Road, Festival Number 6, The Great Escape, Tramlines and Field Day.”
The Liverpool Psych Festival has been described as “a pan-continental celebration of audio-futurists, operating at the bleeding edge of today’s psychedelic renaissance.” The independent festival will be in its fourth year and will shortly to release line-up information, as well as this year’s dates and ticket releases.
NME magazine praised the festival, saying:
“The success of Liverpool’s International Festival of Psychedelia represents a current national interest in a form of music that’s ambitious, exploratory and increasingly intelligent.”
Other critics have called it “a weekend of glorious mind-melting psychedlia”.
