Sporting legends Katarina Johnson-Thompson and John Barnes will speak at a free online event on Monday organised by the LFC Foundation as part of Black History Month
World champion heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Liverpool FC legend John Barnes will take part in a free Careers Uncovered event on on Monday organised by the LFC Foundation as part of Black History Month.
Katarina, or KJT as she is often known, will talk about her career becoming World Junior Champion, European Champion, Commonwealth Champion, World Champion, and UK record holder.
Her immense talent was apparent from an early age. At just 11 she joined in on a school sports day – and this resulted in her setting a new school high jump record. She topped the world rankings at just 21 and will talk about her triumphs and overcoming setbacks.
John Barnes signed for Liverpool from Watford in 1987 and quickly establish himself as an Anfield favourite. He win league titles with the Reds in 1988 and 1990 and played for England 79 times, scoring 12 goals.
He was the first black player to win the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award in 1988. He also won the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Footballer of the Year award that same year.
