In a bid to support local talent, Liverpool tech firm Pulse Systems tasked LIPA graduate Max Hustwick with creating a jingle for its series of YouTube videos. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool tech firm Pulse Systems has partnered up LIPA graduate Max Hustwick in a project to highlight the problems with tech faced by people in business.
Pulse, based at the Sensor City business incubator facility in Liverpool city centre, specialises in cloud-connected sensors to provide building owners with full visibility and control of things such as air quality, smart lighting and occupancy levels.
It has also produced a series of YouTube videos in which people in the business world discuss their problems using technology. They wanted music to accompany the films and decided to team up with local talent.
Max Hustwick graduated in the summer from LIPA in songwriting and production – specialising in electronic indie music production. A strong advocate of community and collaboration, Max has produced music for local artists including Aron.
His goal is to produce music full-time and pursue his personal music project, happysadmedium. He was tasked by Pulse with creating a jingle for the company’s YouTube series.
Pulse values local talent and provides paid internships and outsourcing opportunities to students and graduates, through partnerships with local universities. In working with Max, the company crosses sectors, to involve and support the arts.
Cleo Cosens, marketing manager at Plus Systems, said: “Max made the process so easy, smooth, and fun. The jingle fulfilled what was required, but with his own artistic flair. The jingle exceeded expectations – Max is an excellent collaborator.”
She added: “COVID-19 has impacted all industries whether good or bad. The creative industry in particular is one of the last industries to recover from the pandemic and it’s a sector that we take for granted. Culture is at the heart of Liverpool and music is in the city’s veins.
“As a community, we need to ‘build back better’ so, why not start in your hometown? Businesses and wider society need to think of creative and innovative ways to collaborate, support, and cheer on our local independent creatives.”
