Ronald McDonald House, Alder Hey provides free accommodation to families with sick children who are patients at Alder Hey hospital and is now looking to upgrade its rooms
Liverpool charity Ronald McDonald House, Alder Hey, is asking supporters to make #RoomForChange with its latest campaign.
‘Mac House’, which enters its 27th year in 2020, is asking for support to upgrade all of its bedrooms, which accommodate more than 2,000 families per year. Ronald McDonald House offers free accommodation to families with sick children who are patients at Alder Hey hospital.
The independent charity must bring in £750,000 each year, and relies on fundraising and donations. Chief executive Wendy Carson said: “Our rooms our well- loved and well used by our families, but as with all family homes they need a refresh after 27 years.
“We are asking our supporters to help us to make the rooms even more comfortable for our families to relax in, by pledging their support for our #RoomForChange.”
Each room will cost £5,000 to upgrade, with the refurbishment including new furniture, fixtures and fittings in each room. Support for the refurbishment has already come in from previous families who have stayed at the house, as well as some local business, who have pledged towards a room.
