Medicash steps up efforts to have 1m policyholders on its books by 2030 as it reports another year of bumper results.
In the 12 months to December 31, 2025, the Liverpool health cash plan provider saw revenues surge 14% to £70.9m as it increased its policyholder base by 55,000 to 696,000. Its technical surplus more than doubled to £3.8m.
Investment returns increased to £4.5m and group reserves rose by 12% to £59.8m. Through the Medicash Foundation, more than £400,000 was donated during the year, supporting over 140,000 people in communities across the UK.
Founded in the charity hospitals of Liverpool in 1871, Medicash has become the UK’s oldest and largest corporate health cash plan provider.
In 2023 it acquired its One Derby Square home – the former Pearl Assurance House – in the city centre for £12m. Owning the 70,161 sq ft building saves it around £200,000 a year in rent and provides a rental income stream from other tenants.
Chief executive Andrew Healy said: “2025 has been a landmark year for Medicash. We have delivered outstanding commercial performance, strengthened our financial foundations and senior team, enhanced our governance frameworks and, crucially, extended our positive impact in communities across the country.”
Medicash is to introduce a range of new services, available at no additional cost to existing customers, alongside the launch of a new wellbeing product. Further details will be announced in early May.

“We are seeing growing demand from employers who want high-quality, accessible healthcare solutions for their people,” added Andrew. “With a clear strategy, a strong balance sheet and a pipeline of new products ready to launch, we are well positioned to accelerate our growth.
“Our ambition to reach 1m customers by 2030 is bold, but it is entirely achievable. We are building a business with the scale and capability to make an even greater difference to the health and wellbeing of working people.”
