Mersey jobs fair attracts big name employers

Major employers including McDonalds, Ikea, LIDL and Victorian Plumbing will be offering jobs and apprenticeships at a Liverpool city region jobs fair later this month. Tony McDonough reports

St Helens Chamber is organising a jobs fair this month

 

Big name employers including McDonalds, Ikea and LIDL will join smaller firms at a Liverpool city region jobs fair later this month.

Fast-growing online Merseyside national online bathroom retailer, Victorian Plumbing, will also be looking to recruit new staff at the event which is being organised by St Helens Chamber of Commerce.

Taking place from 11am to 3m at the Mercure Hotel St Helens on Tuesday, January 25, the Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair will look to assist jobseekers and young people from across the city region secures new jobs or training and career opportunities.

A number of employers will also be offering apprenticeships at the event. The National Careers Service for St Helens, St Helens Chamber’s qualified careers advisers will also be on hand to give free and impartial careers advice. They can also sign attendees up to a range of free short courses to add extra skills to their CVs.

Mike Unsworth, career development manager at St Helens Chamber, said: “We’re looking forward to this event and think that the timing will be perfect for people looking to start the new year with a new career.

“Plenty of local employers have come to us with vacancies they need to fill and there’s lots of opportunities for apprentices looking to start their careers too. We hope that this jobs and apprenticeships fair will be as successful as the last and we can connect lots of local people with fantastic employers.”
