Mersey Maritime reveals shortlist for its 2025 annual industry awards with the ceremony to take place at Liverpool Cathedral in November. Tony McDonough reports
Finalists for the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2025 (MMIA25) have been revealed.
Now in their 11th year the awards recognise the sector’s most outstanding companies and individuals across Liverpool city region and the wider North West. In the city region alone maritime is worth more than £6bn a year.
Organiser Mersey Maritime says a record number of “outstanding” companies and individuals submitted applications, leading to a highly competitive finalist stage.
The MMIAs are recognised as the UK’s leading regional maritime awards. This year’s finalists were chosen following a rigorous evaluation process led by a panel of 12 judges.
They comprised national, regional and local industry experts, business leaders and Government representatives.
Mersey Maritime will launch the final stage of the judging process, the industry voting platform, on Wednesday, October 1.
It will provide local, national, and international industry peers with the opportunity to cast their votes for the eventual winners, who will be unveiled in front of hundreds of guests at the awards dinner on Thursday, November 6, at Liverpool Cathedral.

“The calibre of submissions highlights the outstanding innovation, growth and positive impact being delivered across our sector, with achievements that make a real difference to our coastal community.
“We are grateful to our judges for their time and expertise, and to our valued sponsors whose support enables us to shine a spotlight on the very best of the Mersey maritime industry here in the North West.”
