Merseyside freight firm opens office in Dubai

Liverpool-based freight forwarder Trinity Logistics announces international expansion with first office in Dubai with the support of the British and Irish Trading Alliance. Tony McDonough reports

Trinity Logistics has opened an office in Dubai

Trinity Logistics is looking to capitalise on the growing power of Dubai as a business hub by opening its first office in the city – and it has already won its first client.

Based in Sefton Street, close to the Port of Liverpool, Trinity Logistics is one the fastest-growing freight forwarders in the North West. It is now seeking to grow its international footprint with its new base in the United Arab Emirates.

And Trinity founder and managing director, Amanda Unsworth, says the considerable influence of the not-for-profit business networking group, the British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA), was crucial in making the move a reality.

“This is a significant investment for Trinity and is indicative of our ambition to grow despite the tough global trading environment,” said Amanda. “We have responded to this challenge by investing in new technology and now a new office in Dubai.”

In July LBN reported how the firm had invested in Modaltrans, a cloud-based customs and freight management software suite with an “advanced customer portal”. This, explained Amanda, had been a “key operational upgrade”.

She said it had allowed the firm to offer its clients a faster, more transparent service delivery, better tracking, and improved communication. This has helped it defy the current economic volatility and grow its customer base.

Trinity is the latest UK business to look to Dubai to expand its reach. Dubai has a reputation as a luxury holiday destination, increasingly popular with British and European travellers. It also has a growing expat community.

However, the emirate is also now viewed as a rapidly-growing business hub. Once just a small fishing village, the city is now a global centre for commerce and innovation. It offers modern infrastructure and business-friendly policies.

Trinity’s presence in Dubai has already secured its first client, Counterline. This is a Kirkby-based manufacturer of food and drink display units.

On her most recent trip to Dubai in July, Amanda met with Counterline’s export business development manager, Lewis McVeigh, amongst a number of meetings with other potential customers.

And she told LBN this investment will be a springboard for further international expansion with the Middle East, India and the US now firmly in Trinity’s sights.

“Trinity Logistics Middle East will offer our full suite global logistics services to clients including sea freight, air freight and warehousing,” added Amanda. “If you need household goods moving from the UK to Dubai, we can do that.

“This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of the BITA international community.

“A special thank you to Creative Zone (a BITA Dubai member) for their exceptional assistance with everything from visas, business licensing, medicals, banking, and more. That’s the true spirit of this incredible network.

“Their support — from arranging key appointments to navigating the city — was seamless and truly outstanding. It’s been fantastic connecting with fellow BITA members in Dubai to support their global logistics needs.”

Amanda, who is a board member of BITA, extended an open invitation to its next monthly networking event at Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill in Liverpool city centre on Thursday, August 14 from 5pm to 7pm.
