The 20th annual Merseyside Innovation Awards are on the hunt for the most innovative businesses and products from across the region, ahead of a ceremony that will recognise the movers and shakers set to reinvigorate commerce and industry.
The final winner will receive a prize of £10,000 in cash, while runners-up will have the chance to win specialist business support worth up to £2,000.
Last year’s winner was the Speke-based manufacturer Briggs Automotive Company, ceator of the BAC Mono single-seat sports car. Run by brothers Neill and Ian Briggs, the business first unveiled the vehicle in 2011.
Other finalists included Ultromex of Bromborough, designers of a chemical process that helps with recycling of cathode ray tubes from obsolete televisions, and Pulmorphix, a Liverpool John Moores University-spin out that have developed a device that imitates the conditions deep within the human lung,
Businesses can submit entries of this year’s awards, with a judging panel that will select a monthly winner from entries received each month.
When the entry period if over, three finalists will be chosen from the 12 applicants and will be invited to give a presentation to the judges at the final at the Crowne Plaza in July.
