Manchester United star Michael Carrick’s charitable foundation has named North West commercial law firm Brabners as its sole legal adviser.
Michael Carrick Foundation has been created as part of the midfielder’s testimonial, which celebrates his 11 years as a player at the club. It includes a match between Manchester United’s 2008 Champions League winning XI and an All-Stars team at Old Trafford on Sunday 4th June.
All proceeds from the testimonial will support children’s charities in Manchester and Newcastle, Carrick’s home city, and funds from the Foundation will be used to create opportunities for children and young people. Manchester United Foundation projects, which work across some of the most deprived areas of Greater Manchester, will also benefit.
Nik White, partner and head of commercial at Brabners, said: “This testimonial recognises Michael Carrick’s commitment and contribution to the club he has represented for more than a decade, and the role he has played in helping the team win five Premier League titles, the F.A. Cup, League Cup and the Champions League.
“Our appointment further underlines our expertise in sport and with the testimonial match set to positively impact a number of worthwhile causes, it’s a pleasure for us to support the Foundation during such a landmark year and beyond.”
Players already confirmed for the United XI team include Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. They will face an All-Stars line-up that features Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Michael Owen.
In 2016, Brabners, which has offices in Manchester and Liverpool, was also named sole legal adviser to the Wayne Rooney Foundation.
